Pretty much everything! If you haven’t browsed our expanded shelves in the Thousand Oaks Library lately, you might not know what you’re missing. For starters, we’ve combined fiction into one single fabulous category, so if you’re looking, say, for James Patterson, you’ll find all his books—mass market, trade paperback, and hardback—in one convenient location. Now it’s easy for fans to catch up on any titles they’re missing!
If you love shopping for children’s books, you’ll love how much this section has grown—Children and YA titles now take up the entire back wall of the book sale area. Come and see how much there is to choose from—the section even includes gifts, puzzles, and Children and YA DVDs, sorted into G and PG shelves.
Our DVD collection has been completely refreshed—what’s on the shelves now is all brand-new inventory, organized by genre. So whether you love action, drama, or documentary, your favorite films will be easy to find. Also don’t miss our enormous collection of TV series—many of them are multi-disc, multi-season packages; for $2 apiece, you can catch up on all your favorite episodes. While you’re there, take a look at the astounding variety of genres and titles in our CD offerings as well.
Our nonfiction shelves continue to evolve, to make your browsing experience the best it can be. Come see all the new categories: Foreign language, Crafts (organized by craft!), Spirituality and New Age, Gardening, Politics and Government, to name just a few. Health and fitness, Hollywood and entertainment, and local interest, to name a few more. Our popular History section is being further refined by type: Military, World, U.S., and more, and our cookbooks are now organized by cuisine for easy browsing. And additional categories are popping up all the time, so come take a look!
For students, parents, and teachers, our new CVUSD section will feature books which are on the district reading list. Also check our Classics section right next to it, for your back-to-school needs!
And finally, whatever you do, do NOT miss our Bargain Shelves. Located next to the tables, this section might be the most fun of all to browse, because you never know what will pop up there next. Vintage books; hardback fiction; collectible magazines on subjects as diverse as cake decorating, tole painting, needlepoint, military history; classics; bestsellers—and more. Lots more. And each item only 25 cents! It’s the most fun and rewarding treasure hunt EVER.
So if you haven’t visited our Friends’ Bookshop lately, you may be missing out on titles that you want for home or school, or movies that entertain and delight, or on that 25-cent life-changing treasure! Come see how we’ve changed—we want to make shopping a great experience for you, so we can help keep the library the awesome intellectual and cultural center it has always been. Remember, your purchase of donated books is what helps us to help #keepthelibraryawesome. Come see us—and thanks for your support!
