If your New Year’s resolutions include trying something new, check out our ongoing History Book Discussion group. Each year, twelve titles are chosen by vote of the group members, and 2018’s selections promise to be stimulating, thought-provoking, and ultimately, we hope, horizon-broadening. This year the books’ subjects range far and wide—from Islam to finance, from the East India Company to Israel; the year’s titles also include two big-picture historical overviews, finishing up with the best-selling and controversial Hillbilly Elegy.

The discussions are collegial and inclusive, so we hope you’ll consider joining us for one month or many. The History Book Discussion Group meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Goebel Community Adult Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. For more information, contact Jack Heller at 805-341-7585. Hope to see you at one of the discussions—brought to you by the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library, working tirelessly to #keepthelibraryawesome!
